Converse All-star shoes, or chuks as some might call them.

By

We have all heard of them before. Don't deny it. Converse all-stars. They're famous all around the world. Some people even say that Converse shoes are more famous than Michael Jackson ever was. That could be true.

Converse first started out back in 1990. The company created shoes, and they produced about 4000 pair of shoes daily. A few years after that, a basketball player called Chuck T or Chuck Taylor as his real name was, came in to the office. He was screaming, like never before. He threw the converse shoes on the table and started to complain. The owner of the company, Marquis M. Converse, started to ask Mr. Taylor about what was wrong with the shoes. Mr. Taylor kindly replied that the shoes hurt him so much that he actually bled once. Marquis went nuts and actually hired Chuck to his company. They made a few adjustments to the shoes, and placed a sticker on the side of every shoe with the name "Chuck Taylor" on 'em. The shoes went viral, and became famous very fast. This was back in 1917.

Today, in the year of 2009, people still wear them. They were designed to be regular basket shoes, but people just started wearing them in totally random occasions. Back in the days, the shoes only had one color. Black. If you wanted the shoes in another color, you had to dye the shoes yourself, but that's really hard. I'd never do it myself. I own one pair of converse, due to the extremly expensive price. One pair of converse shoes, costs about $100 here in Sweden. That's insane if you ask me.

Despite the fact that the converse skor shoes are very expensive, they still are famous. All my friends own at least one pair of converse shoes - in all colors. Today, you could get a pair of converse shoes in any color desired. Green, pink, yellow, pink...? Take your pick!

Some people still use the converse shoes as basket shoes... but they're not many. The last time I actually saw somebody use them for any kind of physic activity, I was watching a movie with Jim Carrey in it. Some old school stuff right there...

If you live in Sweden, and you're looking for cheap converse shoes, or billiga converse as they would call 'em, then visit this great website: billiga converse skor.

Converse did start making sneakers in 1917. Converse was a rubber company. They got into shoes for the farmers. Farmers were looking for a light weight shoe to wear in warm weather. They wanted the rubber bottom to protect against moisture but a cooler upper. Voila! Converse obliged. Chuck Taylor was a Basketball coach in the 40's. Actually, he recommended the shoes highly. Thus Converse paid him to endorse the shoes with his name. Chuck Taylor All Stars were the first product in America with a paid endorsement.

At one point in time, Converse was the biggest manufacturer of sneakers in the world, followed by Keds Corporation, a close second place. These two were the gold standard for making basketball sneakers. They were so big that they got complacent and let the little upstarts like Adidas, Puma, Nike, Reebok, upstage them. so much for history. But they were the giants of their day.
